Been a While – Two to go

Home to Norwich and away to WBA..couldn’t have picked much better at the beginning of the season.
I think we will need to win both in order to qualify and get third spot.

If the spurs get above us I think I will go in the shed and have a little cry. We also have the toon army bearing down too. Who would have thought that!

Not much time this week. As always your thoughs on home to Norwich? Gotta be an emphatic win….but then again you never know with our beloved Arsenal…

Arsenal 2 – Sunderland 1

Good News…Bad News.

Bad first, our site is under attack!! We have been hit by spam bots – or a very patient human spammer.
Just see the prev posts, I deleted several hundred but then lost the will to live so there we are. Never fear though, I now have defences and they seem to be holding up very well…so far.
To all future commenter’s, spam will not be tolerated. Rest assured I would rather have posts with no comments than ones filled with crap and blatant link posters. Can anyone tell me if this strategy actually increases traffic, seo listings? From what I can see all it does is annoy anyone that comes across it.

Now the good. We have another three points! RVP in devastating form with two cracking goals.
We still looked edgy. Wenger this week stated we had bought a lot of leaders this summer but who is leading on the pitch.

When we conceded the equaliser – excellent free kick by the way by former gunner Larsson, you could visibly see the confidence of the team up and do a runner. If there was ever an example of what a loss of confidence can do to a team just check the first half. Unbelievably good for 25 mins, then unbelievably bad for the next 20. Suddenly we lost our shape and no one seemed to want the ball, few options existed for the man with ball.

This is when a Adams or Vieira would have blasted those not where they are supposed to be and made sure everyone is ready to receive the ball. I think that’s what we really need first. Someone to say its down to me. If it goes wrong blame me and not anyone else. But who can rise to the challenge, RVP as good as he is cannot be this man. He needs to be left alone to produce the magic only he can, not checking and correcting what everyone else is doing.

Thankfully we regrouped for the 2nd half and Rvp sorted the tie with an even better free kick. He deserved it after his effort that hit the woodwork. Well worth watching the highlights for that alone. If it went in I think it would have been up there for goal of the season.

Boy do we need to keep RVP – our only remaining world class player?

Van Persie declared his commitment to the club in the matchday programme. Does anyone know what he said exactly?

Wenger:
“The spirit in the team is exceptional and in the second half we just came out and played in their half. We are growing as a team and getting stronger and stronger.
“Robin van Persie is a special player and he’s shown that again today. He’s blessed at the moment and let’s touch wood with his injuries. He’s shown what a great player he is when he can be consistently playing.
“We have answered a few critics but not enough and there is a lot more for us to show.”
Ain’t that the truth.

Blackburn 4 – 3 Arsenal

What a match for the neutral – 7 goals, some tackles a penalty shout, own goals, offside goals and a so called giant killing.

(Are we still giants?)

Blackburn were outplayed for most the match, but they seemed to score every time they went forward which was not that much. They had 3 shots on target and managed 4 goals. (Two were own goals from Alex song and Kos)

We played well going forward causing many problems, scored 3 good goals, and Robinson made a lot of good saves. But at the back we look shaky, nervous and its just so easy to score against us so far this season.

We have already conceded 14 goals. In Wengers first double  winning year I rememeber we conced something like 18 league goals all season long. What a decline.

We have heard all the excuses before, we are developing youth and we have a lot of injuries…but wait – today we had Schezza in goal – youth player, developing well, good stuff arsene. Who else was a youth or upcoming player? – Ramsey – Thats it. Everyone else is mid 20′s or there abouts. Pers, Sagna,Kos,Santos, Song, Arterta, RVP, Arshavin and Gervinho – none of these are young players.

So what? We still got a lot of players coming back?… don’t we? Vermalean and Wilshere yes, thats 2 players out, Kibbs, Diaby and whoever else is being nursed by obviously incompent training and medical staff are are not first team players so who cares if they are out.

All this on the season when the board again spends very little. I actually think we still made a profit this season on transfers or came very close. To top it off we pay the most in the land to see our team. This cannot last! Something will change soon regardless. Either Arsenal need to get back to where they were and spend some of our riches or the fans simply will not come to the staduim and we will then be a club truly in decline.

This is a key key season not for Wenger but for the whole of our beloved club. I feel one ray of sunshine remains, Jack. A lot rests on this 19year olds shoulders, Jack get welll soon, you are the man to bring on a new era…if you get another injury or delayed in your comeback I think Ill start a facebook campaign to track down Arsenal’s medics and physios and give them more then just a few stern words.

So in mid September and only one win!!! What odds would I have got on that. Still…things can only get better.
